Description
Spring has arrived to Arizona. We see the Tucson Mountains from the canyon near Gates Pass and the southwestern Sonoran Desert landscape adorned with many different buds and blooms with the quick arrival of warm weather after a cool, rainy winter. Located just west of Tucson, Tucson Mountain Park is a great place to experience nature not far from the metro's urban core.
All the cacti, including saguaro, prickly pear, and barrel cactus, are adorned with colorful flowers of varying hues from gold to pink to yellow to white. The Sonoran Desert is interesting in that most things actually bloom at different times of the year, but I took an impressionistic artist's liberty do display everything in bloom at once in a whimsical painting. White, puffy cumulus clouds fill the afternoon sunlit sky as my trademark birds fly overhead. I find the colorful blooms juxtaposed with the poky needles of the plants to be interesting.
Springtime blooms in Arizona are fleeting. Very soon, in this scene, deadly heat will set in and cast the desert into an almost silent slumber as the overhead soon cooks everything in its path, until the hopeful reprieve from monsoon season (consisting of violent thunderstorms and flash floods) brings a drink to all the desert's plants.

The desert is so vibrant and alive in this beautiful painting of the Sonoran in bloom, Chance!

Your style is so distinctive, it's immediately recognizable. I don't know exactly how you do it but all your work has a kind of innocence to it that is quite enjoyable. "Arizona Spring" makes me want to hop on a plane and take a trip down there to explore the desert!
