Artist's Description
Stars fill the skies over the desert mountains of the American Southwest. Based loosely on the Sonoran Desert landscapes surrounding Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona, this celestial nighttime digital painting features the faint Milky Way galaxy over rugged mountains, the silhouettes of Saguaro cacti and ocotillo plants, scrub brush, and a barrel cactus. One star in particular is so bright it could be a prehistoric supernova. Whatever it is, the light is bright enough to illuminate this dreamlike, nocturne scene and light the hearts and imaginations of those who view it.
The night skies have been thought for centuries to be a glimpse into the promise of eternity. Some romanticize the stars as peeks into the light of heaven. Whatever one believes, the stillness of a desert night and stars in the sky are a perfect combination for pondering the divine.
