Description
A plaque dedicated to the history of El Pas found in Anthony, Texas. It reads,
"El Paso - Largest U.S. City on the Mexican Border. Named for the mountain pass. Historic gateway for Indians, priests, gold-seekers, traders, stages. Federal troops occupied this area longer than any other during the Civil War. Agricultural, industrial and military center. Texas Western College, Spanish Missions." The plaque appears to have been appropriated by the Texas State Historical Survey Committee in 1964.
