Artist's Description
I have painted an impressionistic landscape featuring mighty, snowcapped glacial peaks basking in the late day glow of the setting sun. Large, puffy cumulus clouds fill the expansive sky as the cool waters of a tranquil lake reflect the colors of the radiant evening sky. Trees adorn the shoreline of this peaceful place during autumn.
This painting is straight from my imagination, which are some of the most fun paintings to paint. Utilizing the wet on wet technique in acrylics and knife painting for the mountains, this was loosely inspired by the style of the late, great Bob Ross, who drew much inspiration from the state of Alaska while he was stationed in the United States Air Force there.
I hope "Evening Lake Wonder" instills you with the same sense of wonder of this vast, wide open expanse as it did with me when I painted it.
About Chance Kafka
Tucson based photographer and artist Chance Kafka is a native of Laramie, Wyoming, and grew up in the small community of Wheatland, before returning to Laramie for college. He took an interest into photography at a young age, photographing clouds, sunsets, and landscapes. At age 17, he won 1st Place in the Platte County Fair photography competition in 3 out of 5 categories as the only entrant to win more than one category. Following this local success, he worked as a feature writer and photographer for the Platte County Record Times while still in high school.
