Description
Finger Rock is a formation on the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona. Inspiring curiosity and wonder, it appears to be a hand pointing toward the sky. The mighty peaks of the rugged Santa Catalinas tower over the city; there is no bad view of them anywhere in the Old Pueblo. This painting, depicting a heavenly, misty morning with rays of light illuminating the crest of these peaks, overlooks Finger Rock Canyon from a trailhead north of the Catalina Foothills. Countless Saguaro Cacti stand tall, dotting the landscape of the Sonoran Desert, and ocotillos feature their bright red blooms. Little pirckly pears appear amid the rocks. The glow of the morning fog renders this surreal landscape of the Southwest at its finest splendor.
This undertaking was a few plus days of nonstop painting after work. It is the work I am most proud of. Since beginning painting in January, 2019, I discovered I had knack for it (at least imprrssionism), perhaps from my photography knowledge. It has since grown to an outlet for me to portray beauty that I am unable to with the camera.
I want to give special recognition to Fine Art America artist Jerry Bokowski, an accomplished Southwestern painter who has encouraged me greatly. The inspiration to sit down and do a continuous work vs like this vs the quick paintings I normally do came from my admiration of his work and his encouragement. I also want to recognize Randy Burns, another accomplished painter who incorporates so many wonderful heavenly elements into his work that the aura and rays in this one are inspired by him. Even though I have only painted for 4 months as of the time of posting this, I really feel the positivity I have received from those two in addition to countless other fantastic FAA artists that would take me hours to list, has really brought out my true potential, and for that I think the FAA community. I probably never would have began painting in the first place until I joined here.
I appreciate your visit to my art and photography gallery. All of my work is available is available as a print, framed print, acrylic print, metal print, wood print, canvas print, or greeting card. The sizes of wall art range from the 5" x 7" greeting card to 72" wide in some cases! All materials are archival and beautifully printed for a lifetime of use in home or office.
