Artist's Description
A radiant, glowing sunrise lights up the Sonoran Desert Landscape and the locally famous Four Peaks of the Mazatzal Mountains of Central Arizona. Silhouettes of prominent saguaro cacti dot the southwestern landscape as the clouds in the sky glow fiery shades of orange, red, giving way to deep blue up top with a waning crescent moon visible at dawn.
The Four Peaks are the most prominent feature of the Mazatzal Mountains and rise to the east of Phoenix Arizona, and are most readily visible in the Four Peaks Wilderness Area between Apache Junction and Payson, Arizona. Straddling the Maricopa and Gila County line, these peaks are apart of Tonto National Forest and some of the most photogenic in the state. It was my hope, with this hopeful, impressionistic acrylic painting, to convey the mood and feel of a colorful new day in the American Southwest, with radiant, golden hour light.
