Description
This is a black and white ocotillo and cholla against Mount Wrightson, which is the tallest mountain of the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson, Arizona.
They are enveloped by stormy monsoon season clouds as seen from this vantage point in the beautiful, wide open Sonoran Desert upland on a hot summer day. This range is prominently visible from Tucson and the communities of Green Valley and Sahuarita in the Santa Cruz River Valley in the southern edge of Pima County.
Monsoon season brings a dramatic and dynamic contrast to the sky and southwestern landscape, in which the light and shadows play in interesting ways. This high desert region is a great place to enjoy nature, solitude, and observe the contrasts on the land.

A very impressive use of depth of field to create a stunning contrast between foreground and background, excellent work, Chance! Love the gray tones in this well-composed work. F/L

That's one heck of an image. It works so wonderfully in black and white. I love the ocotillo! Featured in American Desert Southwest.
