The famous Superstition Mountains just outside of Apache Junction, near Phoenix, Arizona are seen in black and white. This landscape is one of the most iconic in the American Southwest. The vertical, rugged peaks are cast in dramatic golden hour light near sunset. Saguaro cacti rise amid the splendor. The Flatiron formation is readily visible. These beautiful yet foreboding mountains are the subject to great lore and legend for the supposed gold mine hidden within the mountains and reports of many people dying trying to find it. There are not many scenes that say "Arizona" more than this one.
