Description
Tucson, Arizona is surrounded by desert, but one wouldn't know it playing one of its lush golf courses. Even in the dead of summer, golf offers an escape to green, tree-lined fairways and views of the Catalina Mountains.
Here, we see a golf ball at rest on the green of the Par 4 Fourth Hole of Fred Enke Golf Course, one of the City of Tucson's five public courses, looking north toward the Pusch Ridge Wilderness and Mount Lemmon. Fred Enke is an elusively challenging course without a grassy rough - instead, if you hit outside of the narrow fairways on its many doglegs, you will be hitting out of rocks, hard dirt, scrubby bushes or poky cholla. The checkerboard flags area a welcome sight even if it takes way too many low line drives through the cacti to get there.
In the mid of monsoon season, storms brewed all around, but like with most of the 2020 monsoon season in Tucson, there wasn't really any rain. But the dramatic clouds added a nice aura to an afternoon of golf.
