Seascapes are some of my favorite things to paint. The sun and some puffy clouds float over the ocean during a warm, breezy afternoon. In this simple seascape, there is nothing to view but the expanse of the deep blue sea. Save for two birds flying by in the sky, there are no people, or any sands of humanity, or land to be found. Just the waves of the sea, glistening in the sunlight, and extending out along a never ending horizon. In this simplicity, there is complete solitude, tranquility, and peace. I saw the ocean once, in northern California, and the expanse of it has always stayed with me.
This acrylic painting incorporates lines, patterns, and only two colors (blue and milky white) throughout to achieve the impression of this seascape.
I also used my new airbrush to paint the sun and clouds, which helps incorporate the glow and atmospheric effects. I broke the needle in it taking it apart to clean it, so hopefully a nice print sale will allow me to buy a ne...
Tucson based photographer and artist Chance Kafka is a native of Laramie, Wyoming, and grew up in the small community of Wheatland, before returning to Laramie for college. He took an interest into photography at a young age, photographing clouds, sunsets, and landscapes. At age 17, he won 1st Place in the Platte County Fair photography competition in 3 out of 5 categories as the only entrant to win more than one category. Following this local success, he worked as a feature writer and photographer for the Platte County Record Times while still in high school.
