Artist's Description
Alpenglow twilight from a fiery sunset lights up the ethereal sky above the twinkling lights of Tucson, Arizona as seen from Windy Point Vista along the Catalina Highway on its ascent to Mount Lemmon. The skyline of downtown is visible, cradled between Thimble Peak in the foreground and Baboquivari Peak in the background. The mountains appear purple and pink, from the glow of the radiant contrast of deep reds and blues in the sky, as is common in Arizona.
There is no better place to see a sunset and see the lights of the Old Pueblo come on than Windy Point. Silhouettes of onlookers and hikers can be seen atop the hoodoos and granite rock formations here, gazing out at the southwestern city below, strewn out across the floor of the Sonoran Desert.
