Description
My latest painting features Kokopelli atop a ledge overlooking the Grand Canyon from Moran Point on the south rim of the canyon along the Desert View Drive in Arizona. Including in this iconic landscape is the Black Granite Gorge and several temples (Vishnu, Brahma and Sheba) as well as the Wallhalla Plateau in the distance.
Kokpelli is a southwestern iconic and believed by Native Americans to be a spirit that is a harbinger of mischief, rain and fertility. His perch on the kaibab limestone allows him to play his flute, which echoes across the canyon bathed in afternoon sunlight. Birds fly across the sky below puffy white clouds.
This was a fun little painting to do after my large, tedious previous one.
