Description
The Scenic Road of Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona begins in Bonita Canyon. The narrow but well paved highway leads off toward the mountains, eventually rising to an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet. Stormy monsoon activity in the area led to some dramatic late day sunlight illuminating the mountains. The National Monument is about three hours east of Tucson and is near the New Meixco state line in the high country of the Chihuahuan desert.
