Description
Elephant Head Butte of The Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson, Arizona are enveloped by stormy monsoon season clouds as seen from this vantage point in the beautiful, wide open Sonoran Desert. Light and shadow really played on this landscape and I was so glad to be able to capture it on this hot June day. This range is home to prominent Mount Wrightston, the highest peak in Southern Arizona, and prominently visible from Tucson and the communities of Green Valley and Sahuarita in the Santa Cruz River Valley in the southern edge of Pima County.
Monsoon season brings a dramatic and dynamic contrast to the sky and southwestern landscape, in which the light and shadows play in interesting ways. This high desert region is a great place to enjoy nature, solitude, and observe the contrasts on the land. This to me is southwest desert photography at its finest.
